1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Anytime we sin, we are to confess our sins to God. Once we confess our sins to God, we need to forgive ourselves. By not forgiving ourselves, guilt and condemnation set in. That guilt makes us feel like we’re unworthy and we need to punish ourselves because we sinned against God. We may feel too unworthy to go to church or accept a blessing because we’ve sinned. When we punish ourselves, we insult Jesus. Punishing ourselves literally lets Jesus know His sacrifice and punishment for ALL our sins wasn’t good enough.
Once we ask for forgiveness, we are forgiven. We may not feel like we’re forgiven but, because God’s word says we’re forgiven; we are forgiven.
Praise God for His grace and mercy; Who forgives and forgets all our sins once we confess.
