Our desire should be to embody Christ. We pray that the desires we have that are from Him are enhanced and the desires that are not from Him diminish.
Galatians 3: 29 And if you are Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s descendants, and heirs according to the promise.
And as we emulate Christ, we remember that not by our works, but by His sacrifice are we made heirs. As heirs we walk with dignity (not succumbing to the sins of our past) and authority (expecting greatness and the promises of God – Genesis 15).
