Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
If we, who call ourselves true Christians, deliberately disobey God and His commandments will that affect our chances to go to heaven? No, because our salvation is not based on works. Our salvation is received by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Does this mean we get to live in disobedience without consequences? Of course not. If we choose to disobey God and His orders, we reap the consequences of poverty, sickness, and an untimely or tragic death.
Our obedience or righteous works we perform on earth entitles us to the blessing (Deut. 28:1-13). The blessing means prospering in every area of our life (marriage, family, health, finances, peace, etc.). When we choose to disobey God, we’re still saved but, this allows the curse to manifest in our life (Deut. 28:15-68). The curse means an empowerment to fail in every area of our life (failing in our marriage, family, health, finances, peace, etc).
So, the quality of our life we have on earth is up to us. We can choose to obey God and experience the blessing or choose to disobey God and experience the curse.
Choose wisely.
Be blessed.
