1 Samuel 2:30b Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
To honor God means to honor His Word because according to John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Now we are not under the law, but under a new covenant in which we live by the Spirit, Galatians 5:25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
But while we daily allow the Spirit to direct us rather than the Mosaic law, the Spirit will not guide us contrary to the Word. So as we commit to this walk of freedom, accepting our state of righteousness through Jesus and living by the Spirit, we can distinguish His voice by peace, truth and alignment with the Word.
John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.
