1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Opposition is a part of the process. What kind of enemy would Satan be, if he allowed us to receive our heart’s desire without a fight?
Satan’s ultimate goal is to guide us to unbelief by throwing darts of doubt into our mind. He attempts to make us doubt God when our promise “takes too long.” He attempts to magnify the negative issues surrounding our life. Even when we miss the mark, Satan will magnify our unholy behavior to make us think we’ll never receive our promise. Have faith in God. For those who resist the devil’s tactics, they shall receive their reward.
We resist the devil by casting those thoughts away and believe the truth in God’s Word. Don’t be moved by negative circumstances, thoughts contrary to the Word of God, or attempted “guilt trips” because of our unholy behavior. We are children of God and in spite of it all; God has given us a Yes to His promises.
