Genesis 15-17: God promised Abraham a child with his wife Sarah. When things started to take too long, Abraham decided to help God out by fulfilling the promise himself. Abraham decided to sleep with his maid and they created a child of their own (Ishmael). As a result of Abraham’s impatience and self-effort, God did not say a word to Abraham for a number of years and the maid and Ishmael were forced out of their house.
The Word of God is full of promises and we have the Holy Spirit to guide us to those promises. If we hear in our spirit to do or expect a certain thing, no matter how farfetched it seems, receive it and trust the process. Don’t try to make it happen through self-effort.
For example, if God told someone to only apply to 5 jobs a day and expect to receive employment. That person should not apply to 25 jobs a day to increase their odds for obtaining employment. That person may get a job but, that may not be the job God desires for that person.
Remember to trust God, trust His process, and receive what He has for you.
Genesis 15:4 The Lord replied, “No, he won’t! You will have a son of your own, and everything you have will be his.”
