John 17:1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
Jesus is praying to the Father. Jesus is not asking the Father to be glorified in order to be seen or applauded. Jesus is asking the Father to be glorified in order for Jesus to glorify the Father. Everything that Jesus requested or accomplished was to bring glory to the Father.
How many of us can honestly say we have the Father in mind when we make our requests? It’s easy to just go down our laundry list requesting everything we desire but, we need to ask ourselves, how will our desires bring glory to God? If what we request only brings glory to ourselves and we’re not concerned about the Father, we ask with the wrong motives (James 4:3).
Let’s be sure that whatever we request or do brings glory back to God.
