In John 6:38 Jesus says, for I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. Everything Jesus did, He was instructed to do by the Father. In John 18, Jesus was instructed by God to go into the garden with his disciples. Judas, who betrayed Jesus, knew Jesus’ location and led the officers and Pharisees to Him. From there, Jesus was arrested and eventually crucified.

What we can see from John 18 is, God positioned Jesus in a place where He could begin to fulfill His purpose. On the surface, it looked like an opposition but, underneath the opposition was a purpose fulfilling opportunity.

What we can learn from this chapter is, we shouldn’t be disgruntled or upset about where we are now. God may have led some of us to the place we are now in order to fulfill our purpose. Even if our past mistakes left us in a negative position, we have a guaranteed promise that all things (good or bad) work together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Let’s take the time out to look at the place we’re in and ask God for revelation regarding our purpose.
