2 Chronicles 29:27-29 Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets and with the instruments ordained by King David of Israel. And all the congregation worshiped, the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. When they had stopped offering, the king and all present with him bowed themselves and worshiped.

We are instructed to give however, our giving is not based on the Law (Luke 6:38). Our giving is based on our love, admiration, and thanksgiving to God (Matthew 6:19-24). The more God has done for us, the more we should be willing to give.

For those who participate in giving, it’s more than a “box checked” on Sunday. Giving is an opportunity for us to praise and worship this awesome God who allowed us to have an abundant life through His Son Jesus. Giving is an opportunity for us to thank God for everything He has made available through His Son. Giving also allows us to participate in God’s plan to bless our lives. Although we are not under the Law, the overflowing blessing found in Malachi 3 is still available to the giver.

So, when we give, let’s worship, praise, and thank God for all He has done for us. Keep this in mind the next time you participate in this great adventure called giving.
