Psalms 69:7-8 Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Shame has covered my face. I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother’s children;

12 Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I am the song of the drunkards.

As we commit ourselves to God and go deeper in Him, everyone is not going to cheer and applaud. Some of the people we call “friends” may talk behind our backs, call us hypocrites, or turn their backs on us. In fact, Jesus lets us know in Matthew 10:22 people will hate us because they hate Him.

This doesn’t mean we should stop serving the Lord. In fact, we should be serving God even more and thanking Him for revealing the true identity of those closest to us. Our identity is not based on who we’re friends with and how we’re viewed by the world. Our identity is in Christ and how we’re viewed by God.

Let’s continue to go deeper in God and not be concerned with what others think of us and how others treat us. It’s a guarantee they will hate.
