Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
Cursed or empowered to fail is the person who trusts in mankind. How do we know if we have placed our trust in mankind?
When we look to our employers as our source of provision, we’ve placed our trust in man. When we look to the doctor as our healer, we’ve placed our trust in man. When we look to our spouse or children to be the source of our joy and happiness, we’ve placed our trust in man. When we conform to the ideas of mankind that are contrary to the Word of God, we’ve placed our trust in man.
Now, we’re no longer under a curse. Praise God, through Jesus, we are delivered from every curse, but obviously we can see it’s not beneficial for us to place our trust in man. God desires to be the source of our provision, divine health, joy, and every idea we choose to believe. If He’s not the source of every need or desire in our lives, the thing(s) we long for will be temporary and not everlasting.
Trust in God.
