John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Everything the devil tells us is a lie. During adversity, it’s important for us to remember that. The devil will tell us to partially obey God when the task seems difficult; he’ll tell us we always get sick around this time of year, or he’ll tell us our relationship will never be as good as it once was with our spouse or children after a certain incident. These are lies. The devil appeals to our emotions and if we’re not aware of his tricks, he will sound logical, comforting, and truthful, but he’s a liar.
The truth is in God’s Word. God’s Word says, if we’re obedient, we shall prosper (Job 36:11), we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and our families are blessed (Gen. 12:3). Don’t believe the lie. Whatever we face, discover and believe the truth in God’s Word.
