Psalms 78:11 NLT They forgot what He had done— the great wonders He had shown them,
The scripture says the Israelites forgot what God had done for them. I submit that they didn’t literally forget, but the significance of what He had done diminished.
When God does amazing things like, giving us the resources to pay our bills, instantly healing our bodies, or allowing us to get the job, we’re initially grateful and in awe of what He’s done and how He did it. But over time, and as more things come up, the significance of what He’s done dwindles. We experienced the pressure because we had to have that breakthrough 2 years ago, but now, 2 years later, it doesn’t seem like such big of a deal.
When the significance of what God has done goes away, our reverence can follow. The sensitivity to hear from God may decrease. We may be slow to respond to His requests. And we may devalue quality time with Him.
Let yourself go back to that time when you needed God the most, and He showed up. Remember how He made you feel when your faith in Him paid off. Remember those wonderful things and keep your zeal for God.
