Titus 3:8 NKJV This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
We are saved by grace alone and not by our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Although good works don’t save us, it doesn’t mean they’re not beneficial.
If we call ourselves believers, we should be participating in good works. Good works consist of honoring God by obeying His word (in context), being led by the Holy Spirit and not our flesh, giving to the Kingdom of God and to the poor, being a blessing, etc. Anything God instructs us to do in the new covenant is considered good works.
Once again, we don’t perform these good works in order to maintain our salvation or to keep God from being mad at us. We do these good works based on our appreciation for what He’s done for us and to genuinely be lights for others.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
