Psalms 78:4-6 NLT We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children.
As parents, grandparents, and guardians, it’s our responsibility to teach our children about the word of God. It’s not the responsibility of the pastor, the youth pastor, or bible apps to teach our children. It’s ours.
It’s our responsibility to teach them to prioritize the things of God above everything else. Some of us have our children in 2 or 3 sports, but they can’t recite a bible verse. Some of our children can speak multiple languages, but they can’t overcome fear. This shouldn’t be. Everything must take a backseat to the word and the things of God.
So, read devotions with them. Read a verse a day and explain what it means. Show them how God was involved in them getting a new phone or ice cream. Allow them to see God’s protection when they only got a small scratch instead of a huge gash after tripping.
Let’s prioritize God ourselves so that they can prioritize God. Let’s teach them.
