1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NLT If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

All these spiritual gifts are nothing without love. We can shout and cry all night, but it means nothing without love. We can fast until we’ve lost half of our body weight, but it means nothing without love. Any religious duty we do, if not motivated by love, means nothing.

Love is a demonstration we can exercise every day. When we see a homeless person, we can give from a place of love. When we see our friend go through a difficult time, we can spend time with them out of love. When we know our supervisor is lashing out at people, we can pray for them in love. It’s not always going to be easy to love, but the opportunity to love will always be there.

Whatever you do, wherever you are, do everything from the motivation of love.
