Proverbs 14:31 NLT Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors Him.
Everyone on the street asking for food or money is not lazy, a drug addict, or an alcoholic. For various reasons, some people genuinely have a hard time getting employment. Maybe at one time, they had a problem with drugs or alcohol, but now they’re delivered, and they’re ready to work. But, a lot of employers won’t hire a person without an address, reliable transportation, or a clean appearance. These setbacks force them to stay on the street begging for money.
We can be the bridge for them. If we allow ourselves to be compassionate and let the Holy Spirit lead us, He will put someone on our mind who genuinely needs help. It may be that same person we see on our way to work. We can befriend them and see if we can help in any way. We can give them some food, extra clothes, or listen up for a job that can help them.
Fear will tell us we’re throwing our hard earned money away to a lazy faker who will use it on drugs and alcohol. But if we trust God’s word and we’re led by the Spirit, we’ll gladly give it away, happy to be a blessing and believing God will honor His word by allowing us to receive a harvest on every seed we sow.
Be a blessing because everyone could use help.
