Psalms 1:6 NLT For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

Prior to Jesus, the godly were people who reverenced, respected, and honored God. To the best of their ability, they tried to keep the law, but they relied on annual animal sacrifices from the priest to be cleansed of their sin.

Because of Jesus and our belief in His ultimate sacrifice for sin, we are righteous (Romans 3:22). It’s no longer our obedience to the law that makes us righteous. It’s our belief in Him. Our righteousness ultimately makes us godly and as we can see, God watches over the path of the godly.

We have an assurance that God watches over our path. Through the Holy Spirit, He’ll warn us not to go into business with that person, not to marry that person, not to take that route, or to start eating more of this vegetable.

Don’t think that’s He’s trying to limit or restrict us. Trust that He sees our future and knows what’s best for us.

Praise God our Father watches over us and our path.
