Psalms 3:3 NLT But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

God is our protector. It’s His privilege to protect us. He never intended for us to protect ourselves. Protecting ourselves comes from a place of fear and distrust. When we attempt to protect ourselves, we’re essentially saying having enough guns, security cameras, and staying alert will protect us better than He can.

Even emotionally, God wants to protect us. He never intended for us to be guarded, with our walls up, and not letting anyone in. There’s freedom in vulnerability. 

All of this is self-preservation. When we go into self-preservation mode, God will allow it. He’ll allow us to stress ourselves out trying to protect our lives and emotions. Is that His will? No, but He’ll allow it.

Enjoy this life being free from worry. Step back and allow God to be your protector.
