Psalms 98:9 NLT before the Lord, for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with fairness.
This scripture may scare some people. They see where God is coming to judge the world, which makes them think at anytime, God can come back and judge them for their sins. And if they have too many, they’ll go to hell.
This is flawed thinking, and if this is being taught, this is flawed doctrine. This may have been true in the old covenant, but in the new covenant all our sins have been forgiven (Heb. 10:12). Jesus took every last sin known to mankind and put it on Himself. He was severely punished for that sin, so that we wouldn’t have to be (Rom. 5:9). Our belief that Jesus sacrificed Himself to save our lives makes us forgiven, holy, and righteous (Rom. 5:1). Even if we sin after accepting Christ, that sin has been paid for too (Col. 2:13-14).
God still will come back and judge the world, but that shouldn’t scare us. If we’ve made Jesus Christ Lord and Savior, when He does judge the world, He’ll see us as righteous and we’ll be with Him forever.
Those who haven’t made Jesus Christ Lord will be judged for their sin of unbelief and will experience eternal death (John 3:18). Encourage people to accept Jesus as Lord so that they’ll be accepted by our Father.
