Psalms 112:7 NLT They (the righteous) do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.
From hearing about layoffs to getting diagnosed with a negative doctor’s report, we may experience bad news. It’s how we respond to the news that determines how much trust we have in God.
If we freak out, worry, can’t sleep, or panic, we trust in God very little or not at all. We can say we trust Him, but our actions speak louder than our words. But if we’re not moved by what we hear because we trust that God will take care of us, we’re in good shape.
We want to be in a position where we hear a negative doctor’s report and don’t flinch because we’re convinced that we’re healed through Jesus (1 Pet. 2:24). We want to still be emotionally okay when we hear they’re downsizing at the company because ultimately we know God is our provider (2 Cor. 9:8). Contrary to what society currently says, it’s NOT okay to be not okay.
Fear, worry, and panic will knock on our door, but we don’t have to let it in. Our trust in God keeps us secure and at peace.
Don’t fret over bad news. Trust in God.
