Psalms 146:3-4 NLT Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.
Presidents, Prime Ministers, kings, queens, and other politicians have made promises to people. Unfortunately, a lot of people have put their confidence in the promises and plans of these powerful people. So much so they’re willing to literally fight for their political party and in some cases, take the life of another person. This is carnal.
Psalms 146:5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
As we can see from verse 5, our hope should be in God. If the title is removed from these individuals, they’re just basic people with flaws. God has been and will always be perfect. He has no faults and He has all the best answers.
Based on that, wisdom should tell us to put our hope in God instead of people. Even if they’re currently powerful, their power is miniscule compared to God. If our hope is in people, we’re only looking in the natural, which is carnal. Our hope should remain in God.
So regardless of what a “powerful” person does or doesn’t do, we’re not shaken. We can still maintain friendships and be cordial with people regardless of their political association because our hope is in God.
