Mark 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit when He promised us another Comforter. The phrase “another Comforter” means there is already one type of Comforter in place for us.

Who is this initial Comforter?

I would venture to say the initial comforter or comforters are angels of God. After Jesus was tempted by Satan in Mark 1:13, angels of God came and ministered to Jesus. They were not there to preach a sermon to Jesus but, to rebuild His faith, confidence, and strength that He used to resist the temptations of the devil.

Likewise, when we’re in a faith fight or fighting temptations we have the right not only to call on the Holy Spirit for help but, to call on angelic messengers to minister to us through these difficult times. God did not intend on us to make it on our own. He has given us help beyond measure to go through life.

We are not in this world alone. We should always remember to use our God given resources.
