To attain the things we strongly desire we have to use our faith because, all the promises of God are received by faith (Romans 4:16). Romans 10:17 says, faith comes by hearing the word of God. This means we have to hear, believe, and receive the word of God to attain these promises. We can’t have faith for something we don’t know.

When we are in a faith fight for something we strongly desire (healing, deliverance, promotion, etc.) we have to be mindful of what we listen to. If all we listen to is Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, or Marvin Gaye, how can we expect to overcome the attacks of the enemy? How would we survive if Satan is telling us to “Give up” or “kill yourself” and all we can quote is the lyrics to “Let’s Get It On?” When the devil attacks our mind with thoughts of doubt, fear, or worry, we need to be able to counterattack with the word of God. We need to be able to stand boldly in the face of the devil and declare “I will live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord!” The word of God is what Jesus used to resist the devil during His trying time in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). If Jesus used the word of God to counterattack the enemy, we should too.

We should spend time reading and listening to the word of God and saturating ourselves in God’s presence knowing, our labor is not in vain.

Mark 4:24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you–and even more.
