James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Have you ever wondered why it takes so long for blessings to manifest in our lives when we’re doing everything we know to do right? Could it be the Bible is fulfilling its purpose?
From our prayers to the manifestation of our prayers, there is a waiting period. This waiting period is known as the testing of our faith. Our faith is being tested to see if we continue to believe and stand on the promises of God or not. Verse 4 says, perseverance or patience MUST finish its work so that we may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. This means if we’re still in that waiting period, perseverance may not have finished its work yet. This also also means we may not be fully mature or complete and we may be lacking something.
The waiting period is an opportunity to bring us to greater level of maturity. Some may need maturity in handling the actual blessing, while others need maturity in patience. The point is, before the blessing appears, there is process to produce maturity. Instead of being frustrated or impatient due to the delay, we should ask God “What do you want me to learn during these times?”
Persevere till the end!
