Many times when we attempt at something and fail we say, “I’m never doing that again.” We make that statement because we don’t want to put that much time, effort, and emotion into a project just to see it fail. We often make that statement too quickly without considering the positive outcome of that failure. The positive outcome is that we gained knowledge of what not to do.

For example, a person is in a relationship with someone whom they know is not right for them but, they continue trying to make it work. That person most likely will get emotionally hurt or drained. After the relationship has ended they say, “I’m not doing that again.” That person doesn’t want to put time, energy, or emotions into something and possibly get hurt again.

One thing that person can do instead of removing all emotion from future relationships is listen to the voice that’s telling them he/she is not the right person.

It may seem right to detach ourselves from our failures but, ultimately we are causing death to our ourselves and our future.

Inspired by Pastor Derrick Golden (

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
