Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Have you ever wanted something so bad until you would do almost anything to get it? That’s idolization.

We all desire something at some point in time. Some of us desire a relationship, children, money, or a house. There is nothing wrong with having desires but, it is wrong if we’re consumed by those desires.
When our desires supersedes God and His expectations for our lives, we’ve entered idolatry. How do we know if our desires supersedes God? Well, if the majority of what we think about, talk about, and research outweighs God and His purpose for our lives, we’ve entered idolatry. Why would God give us something that will take His place? Once again, there is nothing wrong with having desires. Honestly, God wants us to receive our desires but, He’s not taking second place to anything. When we seek first and strive after the Kingdom of God, all our desires and more will come to pass (Matt. 6:33).
Keep your focus on God; not your desires.
