Psalms 85:2-3 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin. Selah You have taken away all Your wrath; You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.
Psalms 86:5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.
Even in the Old Covenant, people recognized God’s willingness to forgive. In the Old Covenant, people annually sacrificed animals to have their sins covered. When their sins were covered, they had a sense of freedom because they were forgiven by God and they knew God’s wrath and anger were removed from their lives.
We are under the New Covenant and we received a greater sacrifice for our sins. We received the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice did not cover our sins. His sacrifice removed sin from the equation (Hebrews 9:26).
If the Old Covenant person could receive God’s forgiveness with the sacrifice of animals, shouldn’t we receive God’s forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus?
For every born-again believer, God is not holding our sins against us. He’s not storing our sins in a vault waiting to show them to us on judgement day. Sin has been removed from our lives. With sin removed, God’s wrath and anger has been removed. Every time we go through a difficult situation, it doesn’t mean that God’s angry with us for a certain act we’ve done. Difficult situations are simply a part of this life (John 16:33).
Receive the forgiveness of God and receive the freedom from His wrath and anger.
