Proverbs 3:3 Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 So you will find favor and good repute In the sight of God and man.

In today’s world, it almost seems like it’s cool to be mean, critical, or judgmental towards others. There are entire TV shows and websites devoted to magnifying the worst in people and criticizing what someone says, how they’re dressed, or what they look like.

At times it’s comical, but God’s Word hasn’t changed. In a dark world where “shade” is being spread daily, God still requires us to be a light (Matthew 5:16). Our light comes in the form of love, kindness, honesty, and compassion towards others. How does it benefit society by criticizing someone’s setbacks or harping on what they could have done better? It doesn’t and God is not glorified.

Although it’s popular to be negative and it feels good to point out the flaws in someone else to make us feel better about ourselves… let’s make this world a better place by being positive and kind. As a reward for our kindness, we receive favor from God AND man.
