Colossians 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
The political drama, financial uncertainty, our health, the possibility of war, the safety of our children, and the unknown in our future all have the potential to get and keep our attention. We’ll research it, think about it constantly, and discuss it with our friends and family.
Colossians 3 tells us to set our minds on things that are above and not on the earth.
What are things above?
Every promise from God through Christ.
On purpose, we must keep our minds set on God’s promises. By keeping our minds set on God’s promises, we don’t have to worry about our finances and what they’re doing in the government because we know He promised to supply our needs (Phil. 4:19). We don’t have to worry about our children because He promised to protect us (2 Thess. 3:3). Even with our identity, we don’t have to worry if we’re good enough because we can read where we’re wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and more than conquerors (Rom. 8:37).
Let’s keep our minds focused on God and His promises and not the chaos and uncertainty of the world.
