When a tragic event happens, and someone suddenly dies, one of the first things people like to say or post is “life is short.” That statement totally opposes the Word of God.

Psalm 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

As we can see, God Himself promises us long (not short) life. When we say, “life is short,” we think we’re being philosophical, but we’re actually canceling God’s promise of a long life. Long life is something we must stand in faith for. Despite what we’re dealing with and the circumstances surrounding us, we must believe God’s Word of long life.

So, what’s long life? Some may think 80 years, and some may think 90. Looking at Genesis 6:3, God said our lifespan should be 120 years.

Genesis 6:3 So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.”

We can continue to speak death over our lives by saying “life is short” or, we can agree with God’s Word and declare 120 satisfying years of life. It’s up to you.
