Psalms 15:3 NLT Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends.
Prior to Jesus, we couldn’t enter the presence of God if we gossiped. Praise God for His sacrifice because although we’re all guilty of gossiping, that sin has been paid for, and we can boldly enter the presence of God.
Although our sins have been forgiven, gossiping isn’t good. We must recognize the damage that it causes. It causes us to be critical or judgmental of another person’s decisions. The reputation of a person can be destroyed through gossip. Relationships can be ruined, and that person can be socially rejected.
If we should hear gossip, we should pray for the gossiper and the person they’re gossiping about. If we’re led, we should approach that person and offer help for their situation. And at the very least, we shouldn’t spread the gossip.
Gossiping doesn’t benefit us or the person we’re talking about. It’s a coward’s way of communication.
