Psalms 97:7 NLT Those who worship idols are disgraced— all who brag about their worthless gods— for every god must bow to Him.
Idols are anything we put or magnify over God. We obviously shouldn’t worship statues of various “gods”, but some are unknowingly worshipping mammon (money).
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having money. As believers, we should have lots of money in order to expand the Kingdom of God, be a blessing to others, and enjoy life (Prov 10:22; 2 Cor 8:9).
Money becomes an idol when we’re willing to go outside of God’s will to get it. If we’re willing to lie, cheat, steal, sell our bodies, or destroy the lives of others to have it, that’s when money has us. Money is also an idol if we’re not willing to obey God with it. If God is telling you to give that family $300, but you refuse for whatever reason, that’s when money is placed above God.
God is the one who gives us the ability to get wealth (Deut. 8:18). Don’t magnify that wealth above God. Don’t make money an idol. It’s just a tool that we use to buy and sell.

Psalms 96:2 NLT Sing to the Lord; praise His name. Each day proclaim the good news that He saves.
Before the Lord’s name was known, people were to proclaim that He saves. In context, they were referring to Jehovah (God).
Today, under the new covenant, we know the good news. The good news is there’s only one name (JESUS) under heaven that can save (Acts 4:11-12). And, our belief in His sacrifice for our sins makes us right with God (Romans 3:22).
If people under the old covenant were instructed to proclaim that He saves, how much more should we under the new covenant proclaim that Jesus saves?
Each day, in some way, we should proclaim that Jesus saves. We can talk to people about the love of God at the gas station. We can post about the salvation of the Lord on social media. We can wear a t-shirt, create Christian content, or just talk to coworkers about Jesus.
In some way, we should let the world know that Jesus saves. He not only saves us from our sins but from self-destructing habits, financial ruin, or past hurts.
Let the world know that Jesus saves.

Psalms 95:7 NLT for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!
God watches over us all. We are under His care, and everywhere we go and whatever we do, He ensures that we’re kept safe.
We don’t have to worry about this or that because we can count on God.
Look at the last sentence of this verse. If only we would listen to His voice. If we choose to go down our own path and do our own thing, we will have consequences. It’s not God pouring out His wrath on us. It’s our choices that put us in a problematic predicament.
If we want to minimize the headaches in life, trust that God always has and always will take care of us. Obey His voice to avoid adding additional problems in life.

Psalms 94:14 NLT The Lord will not reject his people; he will not abandon his special possession.
Sometimes, people have a difficult time trusting God because of rejection. They may have been rejected by their parents or someone really close to them and feel like God may do that to them. The death of a loved one can even be a form of rejection. God will never ever reject you.
It doesn’t help that some believers spread the lie that God will reject us if we sin or don’t do enough righteous works. No matter what we do or how far we’ve strayed, God will NEVER reject any of us.
When we repent and turn to God, He will accept us with opened arms. We can see this in the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32).
Once we believe that God won’t reject us, we can develop a more intimate relationship with Him. We can boldly come to Him, despite what we’ve done, and request our needs, desires, and ask for His help.
People may have rejected us, but God won’t. Allow Him the opportunity to replace the people who rejected you.

Psalms 93:3-4 NLT The floods have risen up, O Lord. The floods have roared like thunder; the floods have lifted their pounding waves. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore— the Lord above is mightier than these!
God is mightier than anything we could ever face. God is mightier than cancer, mightier than financial shortages, mightier than diabetes, mightier than childhood trauma, and mightier than identity confusion. Whatever we face, God is mightier than that.
In order for us to conquer these difficulties, we must truly believe that God is mightier than anything that comes across our path. If we doubt that God can handle something, that thing will damage or destroy our lives. If we feel like we can handle something better than God, we’ve made ourselves mightier than God, which never works.
Trust and believe that God is mightier than anything. Let Him handle everything. That way, we can benefit and testify of His might.

Psalms 92:8 NLT But you, O Lord, will be exalted forever.
The scripture says the Lord will be exalted forever. Whether everyone honors Him or not, God will be exalted because He’s God. However, it’s our choice if we personally exalt Him in our own lives.
To exalt means to hold or think of something in very high regard. To personally exalt the Lord means we put Him above everything else in our lives. This includes work, our children, our spouses, entertainment, and social media. If we put anything above God, we have exalted that thing above God.
This can be difficult when we experience problems. Our human nature has the tendency to magnify our current problem(s) above everything else. If our minds are consumed with whatever we’re facing and not on God, we’ve exalted the problem above God. We can reverse that by worshipping God, reading His word, listening to sermons, and praying. With each thing we consistently do, we’re putting and keeping God first.
Exalt the Lord and keep Him exalted to experience a wonderful victorious life.

Psalms 91:7 NLT Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. 11 For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go.
We can rest and be at peace knowing with 100% certainty that we are protected by God. We’re protected from being assaulted, mugged, raped, or abused.
The news may say a certain area has the highest crime rate, but we can go there for hours without having any issues. This doesn’t mean we intentionally put ourselves in a dangerous situation expecting to be protected by God. That’s unwise. But if we’re led by the Spirit to go to a certain area, we can confidently know that we’re protected by God.
God’s protection is not limited to crime. He promised to protect us from sickness and disease, too. We shouldn’t worry about getting sick from the newest virus going around. God vowed to protect us. Again, don’t intentionally put yourself in a bad situation, expecting God to protect you. Be led by the Spirit of God and exercise wisdom.
How can we be so certain that we’re protected? Because He said it. And our faith in what He said activates His protection. If we believe the horror stories of the media or people more than the word of God, that protection is not guaranteed.
It doesn’t matter where you are or who you are. Never fear about your safety because God has promised you His protection. Believe Him.

Psalms 90:2 NLT Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.
People may question who created God or where did God come from? Before the world began, there was God. God is not a created being. He has no beginning, and He has no end. He’s always been.
Some people can’t comprehend the concept of God always being because they’ve been conditioned to only think naturally.
God created this world, and He created time. In order for Him to create this world and time, He has to exist outside of this world and outside of time. But because He’s God, He also has the ability to put Himself in this world and in time.
People may reject this concept about God and this world because it’s difficult to digest, but the alternative is more difficult to digest. The alternative is that nothing or no one created something that has order and design.
Believe there’s a God who created this world. Don’t stop there. Believe He sent His Son to die for our sins. That way, you can be alive with God for eternity (John 3:16; Romans 10:9).

Psalms 89:8 NLT O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies! Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord? You are entirely faithful.
There is one thing we must understand. God is faithful. God has done or will do exactly what He said in His word. If we can rest in this, worry, doubt, fear, and unbelief can’t stay. Those things will knock on the door of our minds when negative situations pop up, but embracing the faithfulness of God will send them on their way.
Since He said He has angels protecting us in Psalm 91:11, we don’t have to worry about someone carjacking us or being assaulted. Since He said we’ll be satisfied with long life in Psalm 91:16, we don’t have to worry about premature death. Since God said He’ll take care of our needs in Matthew 6:25-26, we don’t have to worry about food, clothes, or shelter.
God’s faithfulness is the only place where it’s wise to put all our eggs into one basket. Since He said it, we can totally rely on His word. Live life carefree by resting in the faithfulness of God.

Psalms 88:6-8 You have thrown me into the lowest pit, into the darkest depths. Your anger weighs me down; with wave after wave you have engulfed me. Interlude You have driven my friends away by making me repulsive to them. I am in a trap with no way of escape.
18 You have taken away my companions and loved ones. Darkness is my closest friend.
Just like the writer of Psalms 88, some of us have blamed God for unfortunate events. We’ve blamed Him for letting our loved one die, our divorce, the loss of a job, or our child acting out.
Somehow, some don’t consider the devil and his mission to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Some believers don’t understand that not using our God-given authority is giving the devil and life’s problems an inroad into their lives (Gen. 1:26-28; Luke 10:19).
If we continue to blame God for everything, we minimize our communication with Him and we distance ourselves from Him. It’s hard to trust someone you blame.
Instead of blaming God, thinking He’s in control over everything, take accountability, and let’s look at ourselves. Let’s see what we need to do, or not do, to maintain this abundant peaceful life we have in Christ.

Psalms 87:5 NLT Regarding Jerusalem it will be said, “Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.” And the Most High will personally bless this city.
Jerusalem wasn’t a major or notable city like Cairo or Rome. It was just a basic city. What made it special was the blessing that God put on that city. He could have picked any other city in the world, but He chose Jerusalem to bless and make His own.
Without Jesus, we’re nothing special. In fact, all of us were dead to God. When we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, the blessing that was given to Abraham was given to us (Gal. 3:14). The blessing we receive after our acceptance of Jesus’s sacrifice makes us special and alive to God. We become so special until we’re sealed with His Spirit, He adopts us into His family, and make us His own (Gal. 4:5).
Praise God for the blessing of God. It turns basic and overlooked things into something special. Make Jesus Christ Lord, if you haven’t, to become special too.

Psalms 86:7 NLT I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.
When we’re in trouble, we have two options. We can either call on God for help or try to figure it out ourselves.
Obviously, the best answer for the best results is to call on God for help. However, there are two main reasons why people won’t turn to God for help.
The primary reason why people don’t turn to God for help is a lack of trust. They don’t trust that His way will work the way they want it to work. They may feel like His way is too slow or it goes against human logic.
For instance, if a person is in financial trouble, they may hear God say sow a seed. A person who doesn’t fully trust God can’t understand how giving more money away is going to provide an increase. So, they often try to handle it themselves by sacrificing sleep or time with their families by getting a second job.
Another reason why people don’t turn to God for help in trouble is pride. Prior to their trouble, they may not have been in communication with God or living right, and they feel too embarrassed to ask God for help. So, instead of going to God, they stress themselves out or make a mess of things by handling the problem on their own.
Trust God’s way completely for just one problem, and you’ll see His way will work for our good. And no matter how long we haven’t talked to God and no matter how we’ve been living, if we ask God for help, He’ll help us without making us feel guilty. Put that pride aside, trust God, and ask God for help. We all need it.

Psalms 85:2 NLT You forgave the guilt of your people— yes, you covered all their sins. Interlude
Even before Jesus came, we can see God’s heart when it comes to sin. God doesn’t want us focusing on, living with, or being conscious of sin. He doesn’t want us feeling guilty or shameful when we miss the mark. He wants us to know we can live guilt-free because there’s forgiveness available.
If anyone is attempting to make us focus on our sins or say we should feel ashamed for what we’ve done, they are operating outside of the bible. They’re applying natural and carnal consequences to something spiritual.
Naturally, if we do something wrong, we’re told to “think about what we’ve done.” Spiritually and biblically, we should be told that our sins have been paid for and to live guilt-free.
Praise God for Jesus, who allows us to be totally forgiven of all our wrongdoing. For the believer, there’s no more guilt, no more shame, and no more condemnation.

Psalms 84:12 NLT O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you.
A benefit of trusting in God is joy. It’s not sadness, fear, or pain. It’s joy.
Trusting God will always be a fight with our flesh. Our flesh will always think that it’s right and God’s way is wrong or unnecessary. We must make ourselves fully trust in Him and His way.
1. Joy comes as a result of trusting in God because He’s directing our path (Prov. 3:5-6).
2. We have joy as we trust in God because He promises safety (Ps. 37:3).
3. Joy is present as we trust in Him because we get instant access to His help (Ps. 28:7).
4. We remain joyful as we trust in Him because we have peace (Isa. 26:3).
5. We have joy as we trust in God because we know He’s always present (Ps. 9:10).
If we want to live in a constant state of joy, trust God in every situation.

Psalms 83:9-10 NLT Do to them as you did to the Midianites and as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River. They were destroyed at Endor, and their decaying corpses fertilized the soil.
Asaph is facing new enemies. He’s calling for God to take action against these new enemies. In his request, Asaph recalls how God destroyed Israel’s previous enemies, and he’s requesting for God to do it again.
The word of God alone is all we need to believe that God has given us the victory over any situation. If our faith hasn’t grown to that level yet, we can give our faith a boost by recalling previous situations in our lives where God fought and won on our behalf. It could have been a victory over sickness, financial struggles, a mean family member, or a grumpy boss.
The word of God accompanied by our recollection will give us the faith we need to believe He’ll fight for us again. Eventually, we’ll get to a place where new threats won’t bother us because we know we are victorious.

Psalm 82:6 AMPC I said, You are gods [since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives]; indeed, all of you are children of the Most High. [John 10:34-36; Rom. 13:1, 2.]
God has given us (mankind) dominion and authority over this earth (Gen. 1:26). We control what’s allowed or not allowed in this earth (Matt 16:19). Therefore, God is not in control because He put us in control.
Ideally, everyone should submit their control to God’s will, but unfortunately, everyone won’t. We see that in the beginning with Adam and Eve as they mishandled their authority.
Since people don’t know about or properly use their authority, we see rape, premature death, inclement weather, and other terrible things. A lot of people want to point and say, “Where is God?” and “How come He won’t stop this?” The reason He won’t stop it is because we won’t stop this. He made us gods over this earth.
He’s given us the ability to allow or not allow anything in this earth (bad or good) (Matt. 18:18). Through Jesus, He’s given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We can cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead (Matt. 10:8). Jesus, our example, even showed us how to stop storms (Mark 4:39).
Know the authority that you possess and understand that we are gods.

Psalms 81:8 NLT “Listen to me, O my people, while I give you stern warnings. O Israel, if you would only listen to me!
13 Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!
Twice in this chapter, God instructs Israel to listen. Although this was in the old covenant, nothing has changed regarding these instructions. God still wants us to listen.
For us now, we can listen to God through His written word. As we read the scriptures, in context, we can get directions on what we need to do in different areas of our lives.
We can listen to God through the Holy Spirit. For every born-again believer, we were gifted with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit is willing to teach us all things (John 14:26).
We can listen to God through the gifts Christ gave the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11). As we listen to people who were legitimately called by God, we can get revelation of the scriptures and clarity in our lives.
Once we listen to God and obey what we hear, good things are guaranteed (Isaiah 1:19). Praise God for the good things when we listen and obey.
Psalms 81:14-16 NLT How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him; they would be doomed forever. But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.”

Psalms 80:17 NLT Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice.
Sometimes, we have so much going on until it feels like our strength has been depleted. Between managing the household, working, taking the children to extracurricular activities, and serving at church, fatigue can set in.
When we’re in need of strength, we can pray this simple prayer above. The good news for us under the new covenant is strength has already been made available through Christ. As we pray for strength, by faith, we can receive strength and strength will be ours (Mark 11:24).
This also works when sickness is attacking our health. We can rely on God’s strength to overcome any fatigue due to sickness.
Don’t let fatigue dominate. Pray for and expect God’s strength every day.

Psalms 79:8 NLT Do not hold us guilty for the sins of our ancestors! Let your compassion quickly meet our needs, for we are on the brink of despair.
Prior to Jesus, people had to deal with generational curses and answer for the sins of their ancestors. If their grandfather sinned in one area, they had to deal with the wrath of God for that sin and hope they don’t fall into that same trap.
Unfortunately, this belief has continued after the cross. What a lot of people still can’t comprehend is all the areas Jesus impacted after His sacrifice and resurrection.
1. Jesus’s sacrifice paid the price for past, present, and future sins (Romans 6:10; Hebrews 9:28). If He paid the price for sin, we don’t have to pay it.
2. Because of Jesus’s sacrifice, God vowed not to count our sins against us (Romans 4:8). This includes the previous sins of our ancestors and the sins that some of us still deal with today. God is not charging any sins to our account.
3. God isn’t punishing us for our sins. The wrath of God for sin was put on Jesus (Romans 5:8-9). Sin still has natural consequences, but God isn’t punishing us for sin.
4. Jesus’s sacrifice and resurrection allow anyone who believes to be a part of the family of God (Romans 8:14-17). This means we’re not bound by the sin tendencies of our earthly family.
Let’s not dwell on the sins of our ancestors or the sins we may deal with today. Let’s be grateful for Jesus who dealt with the power of sin and the spiritual consequences associated with sin.

Psalms 78:4, 6-7 NLT We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders.
6 so the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born— and they in turn will teach their own children. 7 So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting His glorious miracles and obeying His commands.
Our responsibility as believers is to tell the next generation about the goodness of God and what to expect from God.
The reason why a lot of us aren’t seeing miracles is because we’re not expecting miracles. One reason we’re not expecting miracles is because we were never told about actual miracles from previous generations.
Anytime God does something big in our houses, that should be headlining news. We should tell our spouses, our parents, and our children. Even if our children can’t fully grasp the magnitude of the miracle, we can allow them to share in our joy that God did something awesome in our lives. That joy will set them on a course to expect God to perform the miraculous in their own lives.
Plant the seed of expectancy from God for the next generation.

Psalms 77:11-12 NLT But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.
When we’re in a difficult situation, Satan likes to bombard our thoughts with that problem. If we dwell on it long enough, that mountain will get bigger and bigger each day. That problem will consume our thoughts and turn into fears.
At the same time, the Holy Spirit will remind us of what God’s done. He’ll remind us of how God dealt with the last “big problem.” He’ll show us how He turned something major into something minor.
The Holy Spirit will also remind us of what God said in His word. He’ll remind us that nothing is too hard for God and all things are possible through Him (Jer. 32:27; Mark 9:23). This is why it’s so important to study God’s word in order to have it inside our hearts (Ps. 119:11).
When difficulties happen, don’t dwell on them. Instead, embrace God’s word and trust that it has the power to change any circumstance.

Psalms 76:5 NLT Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us.
The enemy, Satan, uses different situations to try and get us down. He’ll use a disgruntled boss, car problems, irritable spouses, ants in our houses, or children with bad attitudes to steal our joy.
Since God is on our side, we don’t have any reason to worry or fear. No weapon that is formed against us will prosper. We will silence every accusation against us. We will be vindicated by God (Isaiah 54:17). God has provided a victorious solution to every situation we face.
Don’t let the enemy get you down. He and his tactics have already been defeated. Stay connected to God’s word and be led by the Holy Spirit, and we’ll experience victory in every area of our lives.

Psalms 75:1 NLT We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds.
We don’t have to shout our prayers. We don’t need a holy person to go to God for us. God is near. God is closer to us than breath.
God will never leave us, so there’s no need to sing, “Do not pass me by.” Although it’s truly stated in the bible, requesting God not to take His presence from us isn’t a statement of truth. His presence will always be with the believer. And, contrary to some religious teachings, our sin doesn’t drive God away. If we’re born-again, He will always be with us.
Knowing that He’s near, give your cares, concerns, and issues to Him and know that He’ll handle anything we go through. God is near to His children.
