Psalms 83:9-10 NLT Do to them as you did to the Midianites and as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River. They were destroyed at Endor, and their decaying corpses fertilized the soil.

Asaph is facing new enemies. He’s calling for God to take action against these new enemies. In his request, Asaph recalls how God destroyed Israel’s previous enemies, and he’s requesting for God to do it again. 

The word of God alone is all we need to believe that God has given us the victory over any situation. If our faith hasn’t grown to that level yet, we can give our faith a boost by recalling previous situations in our lives where God fought and won on our behalf. It could have been a victory over sickness, financial struggles, a mean family member, or a grumpy boss.

The word of God accompanied by our recollection will give us the faith we need to believe He’ll fight for us again. Eventually, we’ll get to a place where new threats won’t bother us because we know we are victorious.
