Psalms 86:7 NLT I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.
When we’re in trouble, we have two options. We can either call on God for help or try to figure it out ourselves.
Obviously, the best answer for the best results is to call on God for help. However, there are two main reasons why people won’t turn to God for help.
The primary reason why people don’t turn to God for help is a lack of trust. They don’t trust that His way will work the way they want it to work. They may feel like His way is too slow or it goes against human logic.
For instance, if a person is in financial trouble, they may hear God say sow a seed. A person who doesn’t fully trust God can’t understand how giving more money away is going to provide an increase. So, they often try to handle it themselves by sacrificing sleep or time with their families by getting a second job.
Another reason why people don’t turn to God for help in trouble is pride. Prior to their trouble, they may not have been in communication with God or living right, and they feel too embarrassed to ask God for help. So, instead of going to God, they stress themselves out or make a mess of things by handling the problem on their own.
Trust God’s way completely for just one problem, and you’ll see His way will work for our good. And no matter how long we haven’t talked to God and no matter how we’ve been living, if we ask God for help, He’ll help us without making us feel guilty. Put that pride aside, trust God, and ask God for help. We all need it.
