Psalms 4:1 NKJV Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
With everything going on today with wars, racism, the economy, and division, there’s a temptation to stress. David discovered an antidote for stress. The antidote is constant communication with God (prayer) and believing what He says (trust).
We must take all of our cares, worries, and things that cause us stress to God. We must be honest with Him and honest with ourselves. Let Him know that this is causing us to worry and that is causing us to lose sleep. We can vent to God.
In return, He’ll give us instructions that will eliminate the stress. He may tell us to meditate on scriptures that reference His protection or provision. He may tell us to turn off the news and listen to His word.
As we put our trust in Him and follow His instructions, we’ll experience peace, wisdom, and joy. The situation may not have changed, but our perspective has. This will cause us to enter a stress-free life.
This stress-free living will help our mental health, our immune system, and our sleep. Regardless of what’s going on, we can be confident in God, and like David, boldly declare, I will lie down in peace and sleep well for God makes we dwell in safety.
Psalms 4:8 NKJV I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
