Haggai 2:8 NKJV ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts.

Every form of currency belongs to God. Everything from the dollar, to diamonds, to gold belongs to Him. If any form of finances comes into our possession, it’s His finances. We’re just stewards of it. It doesn’t matter if we worked 80 hours that week to obtain those finances, it was His power we used to get paid (Deut. 8:18).

With the understanding that we are stewards of God’s finances, He has every right to tell us what to do with them. If He tells us to regularly give to our local church, go ahead and give. Giving benefits the recipient, but it benefits us too (Luke 6:38). If He tells us to buy a house for ourselves, don’t be upset with how little money there is left at the end of the month after making a house payment. Just buy and enjoy the house. If He tells us to start a business that we can’t currently afford, start the business with the finances you have. Be in faith for more finances and allow Him to show you how to maintain the business and make it profitable.

The keywords in the examples above is “if He.” The Holy Spirit will instruct us on managing God’s money. If He didn’t tell us to purchase something, He’s not responsible. So, be sure we’re in tune with Him.

Remember, financial currency of any kind may be in our possession, but it all belongs to God. Be a good steward over His possessions.
