Romans 4:21 NKJV and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Regarding God’s promise to Abraham and Sarah of having a child, Abraham was fully convinced that what God said, will come to pass. He didn’t look at his age, Sarah’s barrenness, the time delay, or anything else. He simply believed God. How did he get this convinced? By faith and confession.
Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing the word of God. So first, God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, which means father of many nations. Next, God changed Sarai’s name to Sarah, which means mother of nations. So, anytime they told someone their names, they were calling themselves the father and mother of nations. And anytime someone called their names, they were hearing they were a father and mother of nations.
Abraham also had the luxury of being taught by the greatest Teacher ever, God Almighty. In God’s sermon, God paralleled the number of stars to Abraham’s descendants (Gen. 15:5). After hearing God’s message, Abraham believed God (v. 6).
If we have doubts about what God said in His word, we can consistently confess God’s word until doubt turns to belief. If the devil brings doubt that the pain will go away, we can consistently confess that we’re healed (Isaiah 53:5). This confession will soften our hearts to accept God’s word.
Next, we need to consistently hear good bible-based teaching on God’s promises in that area. If we need provision, we need to consistently hear how God provides. If we need to overcome emotional pain, we need to hear how God comforts.
The keyword with confession and hearing God’s word is consistency. We can’t expect to hear a message once and confess once and expect total change. However, consistently hearing and confessing God’s word will bring us to the point where we’re fully convinced that God’s promise will come to pass.
