Matthew 5:45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

God allows blessings to fall upon the just (righteous) and the unjust (unrighteous). Most of us can comprehend why the righteous are receiving blessings, promotions, and increase in their lives. They’re living a holy life and honoring God in all their decisions, therefore, they’re blessed. However, a lot of us can’t understand why God will bless the unrighteous. They don’t honor God, they engage in unrighteous activities, and they’re living however they feel. This can leave a righteous person, who’s trying their best to honor God, confused or possibly jealous. Why would God bless the unrighteous?

The answer can be found in Romans 2:4 which says, don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

At one point in our lives, we weren’t always living a holy life and yet, God blessed us in spite of our ways. This is grace and mercy. We didn’t deserve anything from God, but He blessed us, protected us, and increased us anyway. These blessings got our attention, motivated us to repent, and now we’re in a constant state of gratitude.

So, don’t be confused or jealous when we see the unrighteous getting blessed. Like us, God is just trying to get their attention to lead them to repentance.
