Psalm 103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body (1 Thess. 5:23). Our soul is made up of our mind, our will, our imagination, our emotions, and our intellect.
When we say, “bless the Lord, O my soul,” we (our born-again spirits) are commanding our mind, which may be thinking of other things, to bless the Lord. We’re activating our God-given free will to bless the Lord. We’re telling our imagination to construct a form of worship to bless the Lord. We’re commanding our emotions, that may not feel like it, to bless the Lord. And we’re moving beyond our intellect, that may tell us He’s not listening, to bless the Lord.
Let’s allow our born-again spirits, which contain the Holy Spirit, to direct our soul and body to bless the Lord.
