1 Samuel 15:24 NLT Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.
The reason why Saul disobeyed God was because he was afraid of the people. Fear is the number one thing that influences us to sin. Think about it. Any sin we commit is rooted in fear.
If a person steals, they’re afraid they won’t have enough. If a person commits adultery, they’re afraid they’re missing out on something better. If a person eats too much, they’re afraid they won’t be satisfied with a regular sized portion. Any form of sin has roots in fear.
Fear is not from God (2 Tim. 1:7). It comes directly from Satan. When temptations of sin enter our minds, we need to question what we are afraid of. Once we’ve identified where fear exists, let’s use our authority to rebuke the fear and obey God.
