Romans 10:4 (NIV) For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in Him are made right with God.

In the Old Covenant, the law was over 600 rules that mankind had to keep in order to be accepted by God. If a person messed up in one area, they were guilty of breaking them all (James 2:10).

By God’s design, no one could or can keep the law. So, God implemented a plan to send Jesus. Jesus kept the law and became the ultimate sacrifice for all sin for mankind.

Our belief in Him keeping the law and being the sacrifice for us makes us righteous. We no longer have to keep the law and it’s not a combination of keeping the law and believing in the sacrifice of Jesus. We are righteous when we believe Jesus fulfilled the law and was the sacrifice for all sin.
