There has been an increasing of knowledge. With this increase of knowledge, there’s been an increase of labels.
For instance, people will read a definition of mood disorders like anxiety, trauma, and depression and attach that label to themselves. Or, they’ll gladly be diagnosed by a doctor to get a label. Once these labels are applied, people use them as a crutch or they want others to cater to their label.
A lot, if not all of these labels are labels God didn’t put on us. God never told us we’re depressed or have PTSD. We may have symptoms of these disorders, but we don’t have to accept the label.
God’s labels says we’re healed (Isaiah 53:5). God says we’re more than conquerors (Rom. 8:37). God says we’re blessed and anointed (Gal. 3:14; 2 Cor. 1:21-22). And He says we’re free (John 8:36).
These are the labels we should apply to ourselves. Any other label is a lie. Don’t wear these labels like a badge of honor. Accept what God says above anything else.
