Ephesians 6:16 NKJV “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. ”
Out of all the pieces of the armor of God, the most important piece is the shield of faith. How do we know that? Because it says above all, meaning all the other pieces of armor, take the shield of faith.
The reason why the shield of faith is so important is because it’s the only piece that can stop the fiery darts of the wicked one.
The wicked one (Satan), will bombard our thoughts with things contrary to God’s word based on what we’re experiencing in the natural. If we got a bad doctor’s report, he’ll use that diagnosis to tell us that we’re going to be sick all our lives or die early. If we’re having difficulties in our marriages, he’ll tell us it will always be this way. If we’re struggling financially, he’ll tell us we’re about to be evicted. All these negative things and more are firey darts.
Our job is to put up the shield of faith when these darts come across our minds. These thoughts may enter our minds, but the shield keeps them from entering our hearts.
When a thought about declining health comes, we can put up our shield and say “by His stripes we’re healed (Isaiah 53:5).” When negative thoughts about our marriages enter our minds, we put up the shield and say, “all things are possible because I believe (Mark 9:23).” Whatever the problem is, there is a shield in the word of God.
Put on the whole armor of God, shield included, and don’t take it off.
Exodus 4:12 NKJV “Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”
When it comes to sharing the gospel and telling people about the love of Jesus, some of us refuse. A big reason why we refuse is not knowing what to say if someone should ask difficult questions.
The good news is if God taught Moses what to say to Pharaoh, He can teach us what to say to the people we encounter. It doesn’t matter if we only have a 4th grade education, a speech impediment, or a reading disability. God will be with our mouths and will teach us what to say.
This not only applies to sharing the gospel, but this applies to sharing a presentation at work, going to a job interview, or public speaking. All we need to do is ask God to help us with our communication and teach us what to say and He will.
Knowing God is with us and will teach us should eliminate any excuse for not sharing the gospel or doing what God has called us to do.

Exodus 4:10-11 NKJV “Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? ”
Moses made excuses why he couldn’t deliver the children of Israel. Some of us make excuses why we can’t do the things God called us to do.
When it comes to preaching the gospel to the lost, some of us make the excuse that we don’t know all the scriptures. When it comes to starting that business that God instructed us to start, some make the excuse that they don’t have the money. When it comes to forgiving that person who hurt us, some say they can’t forgive them based on what they’ve done.
We can always make excuses to not do what God told us to do. God doesn’t need our excuses. He needs us to partner with and trust Him.
The good news is that even if we’ve made excuses for years, God can still use us in a mighty way. If Moses made excuses and God used him, He can use us too.
