Exodus 13:17-18 NLT “When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.”
If God led the Israelites the long way to the Promised Land, He may delay the manifestation of what’s been promised to us through Jesus Christ. Like the Israelites, He’s not delaying these promises to be cruel. The delay is ultimately for our good (Rom. 8:28).
If we received some of these vpromise too quickly, it could be detrimental. It could be more of a temptation to forget God, we could get ourselves into trouble, or trouble could find us.
Throughout the scriptures we see His delay benefiting the believer. His delay produces strength, patience, character, and perfection (Isaiah 40:31; Rom. 5:3-5; James 1:4).
Don’t get upset because the promise seems like it’s taking too long. Be anxious for nothing and let His delay benefit us.
