Exodus 22:28 NLT “You must not dishonor God or curse any of your rulers.”
Cursing is when we speak negatively over a person or a thing. We see this when Jesus cursed the fig tree (Mark 11:12-25).
Exodus 22 instructs us to not curse our rules or leaders. This includes presidents, governors, mayors, and anyone else in leadership. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 tells us to do the opposite. It instructs us to pray for people in authority.
This totally goes against what we see in the world where there are mudslinging commercials, podcasts dedicated to speaking negatively about leaders, and social media groups who hate those in authority.
As believers, we can let our flesh have its way and join in with the bash sessions of our leaders or do what God says and pray for them. The choice is yours.
