Genesis 26:1 NLT “A severe famine now struck the land, as had happened before in Abraham’s time. So Isaac moved to Gerar, where Abimelech, king of the Philistines, lived.
12 When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him. ”
Our economy has definitely changed. Gas prices have gone up, grocery prices have gone up, and there have been significant layoffs. These things impact our finances.
When our finances are impacted, the first thing people want to do is save where they can. Consequently, this makes people less generous. They stop giving to the church. They stop helping people in need. Some people stop spending time with people because they want to save their gas money.
When things look bad in our economy, as God leads, that’s a great opportunity to sow. Sowing during this time displays our trust and dependence on God. We’re telling ourselves that regardless of how things look, God’s Kingdom is still top priority in our finances and we’re still going to be a blessing to the people He loves.
As a result of our sowing, God promises a harvest (Gal. 6:7). Like Issac sowing during a time of famine, we could receive a hundred times more when we sow during a “bad economy.”
Don’t back off on giving what God has called you to give even though it doesn’t seem like a good time. God can use that seed to benefit others and provide a supernatural harvest for you.
“God does His best work during a bad economy.”-Ken
