Okay…
I went to church today.✔️
I read a devotion.✔️
I prayed.✔️
I read my bible.✔️
I listened to a sermon.✔️

We shouldn’t go to church and do all these other religious things as a nod to God. God’s not grading us on how many acts we do towards Him in a day. There’s no check list to be approved by God.

We do these things to strengthen our relationship with Him. We read our bibles to learn more about this wonderful Savior Jesus Christ. We spend time in His presence to learn how to overcome attacks of the enemy.

Nothing should be done as a nod to God or to get on His “good side.” Everything from prayer to fasting to going to church is for our benefit.

Let’s shift our mentality on these acts. Let’s shift them from hoping to be approved by God to knowing we’re already approved and we’re just using these things to continuously build our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Romans 7:6 NLT But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.
