Since the beginning, God has given us power to use. He said, “let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” In Luke 10:19 Jesus says to us, “behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
We have all this God-given power, but some of us don’t use it. We either don’t know we have this power or we don’t know how to use it.
If we study the scriptures, we’ll see all the ways God has given us power. By meditating on these scriptures, we’ll be convinced of this power.
Once we understand the power that’s available to us, it’s time to use it. We use it by speaking faith-filled words with authority. Jesus, our example, speaks to demons, sickness, storms, and Satan himself, and tells them what to do (Mk. 5:8; Matt. 8:8-13; Mk. 4:35-41; Matt. 4:10-11). And He said, whatever works He does, we can do them too and even greater works (John 14:12).
Don’t allow life to hand you whatever it wants. Using the name of Jesus, we have dominion and power over every negative circumstance. Let’s use that power to overcome, resist, and obtain what’s rightfully ours in Christ (John 14:13).
Acts 1:8 NKJV But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
