Psalms 35:18 NKJV I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.
People have no problem praising God in the privacy of their home. They may even praise God in their car. But the way we praise God in private looks a lot different than when we praise God publicly.
When we’re around people, we tend to keep it together. We don’t get too wild, animated, or emotional. We know there are others watching and we don’t want to be judged, mocked, or laughed at, so we limit our praise to lifting our hands and closing our eyes.
God has been way too good for us to limit our praise based on the opinions of others. I’m not saying we need to cry and run around the church every Sunday, but if we’re holding any form of praise back because of people, we’re in bondage to their opinions.
Whenever we praise God around people, let the Holy Spirit lead. If He tells us to raise our hands, allow ourselves to cry, or jump up and down, do it without being concerned about people. Give God all the praise, glory, and honor in private and in public.
